What is Kukurooku?

Kukurooku is a service for friends and family to stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages. Users write short updates, often called 'clucks' of 160 characters or fewer. These messages are posted to your profile and sent to your followers.

What do I need to use Kukurooku?

All you need to use Kukurooku is an internet connection or a mobile phone. Join us here! Once you're in, type your 'CLUCK' update into the web box.

How do I cluck?

Just type in the box below 'what's happening?'. And press 'cluck'!

What are @Replies?

An @reply is a public message sent from one person to another, distinguished from normal updates by the inclusion of the @username prefix. If a message begins with the @username or has the @username within the body of the message, the user is notified and can reply to you as well.

Following is not necessary to reply or mention someone in a cluck, and you can see all mentions of you by clicking on the @Replies tab on the sidebar.

What are Direct Messages?

Direct messages are private messages sent from one Kukurooku user to another. You can only send a direct message to a person flocking you. When you receive a direct message, we save it in your direct message inbox, accessible from the Direct Message tab in the sidebar in your home page.

Set your email preferences to notify you by mail if you have a new message.

Can I edit a 'CLUCK' once I post it?

Nope. Once it's out there, you can't edit it. You can delete an update by clicking the trash icon on the right end of the update, but you can't make changes to cluck you made already.

How do I find my friends?

Use the 'find friend feature' to find key words, user names, new users, popular messages, popular users.
This feature is also used to find your facebook, Gmail and yahoo friends.

What is the difference between an @reply and a direct message?

An @reply is a public message sent regardless of whether the person is following you or not i.e. anyone can view the message.

A direct message can is a private message that only the author and recipient can view.

What does it mean to be FLOCKING someone on kukurooku?

When you flock someone in essence you are following them, so when the person posts an update it will appear on your Kukurooku home page.

How do I post a picture or links on Kukurooku?

Simply add a photo or link by clicking on the link(s) below the content box
- Share your location by entering your current location. Ex. 'Broadway 911, New York'

How do I know who I'm Flocking?

After you click the 'FLOCK' button on someone's profile, you're following them. To see a list of people you're flocking (following) by clicking on the FLOCKING button on the sidebar.

How do I know who is in MY FLOCK?

Depending on your notification settings, Kukurooku sends you an email when someone new 'FLOCKS' you.

You can also click on the MY FLOCK button on the sidebar. This will also tell you how many users are in your 'FLOCK'.

Who are Fave Flock?

These are users which are mutually Flocking each other.

Who reads my updates?

It's up to you!

Anyone can see your Clucks via the public feed as well as people who are in your flock.

If you're hesitant to have strangers read your updates, protect your profile to approve followers and keep your updates out of search.

Your Kukurooku profile is public by default.

Can I block people from following me?

Yes, you can! If you block someone, they wont be able to follow you or send you any messages. If your account is public, they'll still be able to view your clucks in the public feed, but they wont show up on your followers list, and you wont be on their following list.

What is the URL for the mobile version of Kukurooku

It's simple, just point your mobile phone's browser to http://m.kukurooku.com!

Can I put my Kukurooku updates on my blog?

Yep! Put a Kukurooku badge on your blog, website, MySpace... anything that accepts Javascript or HTML. You can even customize your Kukurooku badge to match!
